The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS)

BAPRAS was founded in 1946 as the British Association of Plastic Surgeons, with the objects of relieving sickness and protecting and preserving public health by promoting and developing plastic surgery. The aim of the Association is to advance education in all aspects of plastic surgery.

The Association holds scientific meetings, runs training courses, awards scholarships and grants and owns the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (JPRAS) – formerly the British Journal of Plastic Surgery.

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS)

BAAPS is a not-for-profit organisation, established for the advancement of education and practice of aesthetic plastic surgery for public benefit. One of its main objectives is to develop and encourage the practice of high standards of personal, professional and ethical conduct among members. Members of BAAPS subject themselves
to annual audit of their practices and outcomes. Their offices are based at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London.

The Royal College of Surgeons of England is committed to enabling surgeons to achieve the highest standards of surgical practice and patient care.
To qualify and practise in any surgical specialty in the UK, a doctor must first obtain a fellowship from the College (FRCS), before embarking on his/her Specialty Training. The College supervises the training of surgeons in approved posts, providing educational and practical workshops for surgeons and other medical professionals at all stages of their careers.
